New! Take a peak at the York Theatre Cast!
Hello friends!
It is so exciting to have a new main stage musical world premiere in San Antonio! What could be more passionate than a show about the courage, honor and love of the men, women and children who were at the Alamo? GONE TO TEXAS is about the fearless decision of heroes to stand firm in the face of death - the powerful spirit of self-sacrifice that will live forever.
San Antonio composer Tom Masinter has teamed up with award-winning Austin playwright Steve Warren and New York producer-lyricist June Rachelson-Ospa to bring the epic story of Texas independence to the musical stage. GONE TO TEXAS is not just the story of a handful of valiant freedom fighters standing up to a bully, a cruel dictator leading an over-whelmingly powerful army. It is also the story of love - husbands and wives standing together no matter what, and their love for their children. It is a story of friendships that could never be broken.
Leading the GONE TO TEXAS cast is Daniel Neiden coming from Broadway to play the part of James Bowie. The fabulous Wade Young, four-time Globe award winning actor is bringing firebrand William Barrett Travis to life. Michael Berlet, the versatile Globe award winning character actor will make Davy Crockett jump off the stage and into your hearts. Equity actress and multiple Globe award winner Becky Miller King is playing the brave Susannah Dickenson. Sherry Gibbs Houston, also a Globe award winner, will be Rosanna, bearing a secret of Travis' tumultuous past. Tiffany Mock, former Miss Louisiana and Channel 12 News anchor is the adorable Anita Esparza. The list of superb performers includes 30 of the best San Antonio actors.
Missy Miller, the resident director and choreographer at the Josephine Theatre is noted for her energetic, fast-paced productions. Last year the Josephine Theatre won Globe awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress in a Musical and won two Globe awards for Best Choreography.
You won't regret going to see a performance of GONE TO TEXAS, the musical that will have you standing and cheering. I promise. Make your reservations today - opening night is nearly sold out.
