New! Take a peak at the York Theatre Cast!

April 2006 -- GONE TO TEXAS is having a reading at the York Theatre in NYC on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 7:30 PM. Up to 500 scripts are submitted to the York each year, and only about 25 are selected. Jeff Landsman, who is the Developmental Reading Series Coordinator for the York Theatre, feels that there will be interest in the show in New York and that was why they picked Gone To Texas for a reading. Visit www.YorkTheatre.com. Daniel Neiden will be directing the reading. You may remember him as the Equity actor who played James Bowie in the original 2002 production at the Josephine Theatre in San Antonio. He knows the show and has been interested in it all along. I will be going up to New York on April 27 for a week to help cast and begin rehearsals as music director. I return to New York on May 19 for final rehearsals and the performance. We expect to use mostly Broadway equity actors. I have asked Michael Berlet (Crockett) from the San Antonio productions to participate. The script has been much changed since last seen in its entirety in San Antonio. What started out as a historical documentary has now become a romance. One major character has been added - that of Joe, the black slave of Travis who fought at the Alamo by his master's side. Travis' wife Rosanna has been replaced by Rebecca, a hybrid character of Rosanna and Rebecca who was his real life Texas love. Two light chorus numbers - Texas Gals and Happy Birthday, George Washington have been cut from the show. See photos and more details about Gone To Texas on this webpage.

February 2005 -- Gone To Texas, the original musical capturing the events leading up to Texas independence, will be on stage in the Anheuser-Busch Theatre at the Joe Freeman Coliseum February 4 - 20, 2005 according to Family Fair Coordinator Ellen Andrus. The musical will be presented by a 19 member cast supported by a five piece orchestra. Missy Miller, Artistic Director of the Josephine Theatre will be directing and choreographing the show for its third major production..
